Loving Well: Practicing the Second Great Commandment, week 4

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

Listen Incarnationally

͞”To listen incarnationally is to enter into another person’s world, at a heart level, with the empathy of Christ, attending to their nonverbal cues as well as their words… [When we do so,] by God’s grace, they experience the presence of Christ through us.”

Climb the Ladder of Integrity

Uses for this tool:

  1. to get clear within yourself when something is bothering you and you can’t quite figure out what it is

  2. to become more differentiated (able to define and live by your own values despite outside pressure)

  3. to prepare to address a conflict (more on that next week)
